Personal

I grew up in a family of four boys who are all very mechanically inclined. It’s in our genes. My dad and my mother’s dad were both engineers and my other grandpa owned an auto body shop. Our garage and driveway were always filled with cars, motorcycles or boats in some state of repair. We all love to fix things and we all love to take things apart and put them back together again. We love working with our hands and using our skills to help others. While my brothers grew up to become pilots, engineers and electricians, I was a little different. I found the human body to me the most fascinating “machine”. My interest in the human body and my love for helping people led me to be a physical therapist. Physical therapy is unique in that it allows me to actually spend time with my patients, getting to know them, and learning how I can best help them. I look at the body like a machine that needs to be fine tuned, but at the same time I know that it is inhabited by a person. I love teaching people and empowering them to take care of themselves; and I really get excited when my patients “get it” and can feel and recognize the change in their bodies.Outside of physical therapy I am a super nerd about a lot of things: #1 is Cycling (a lot of group rides and commuting to work on the Alpharetta Greenway), making espresso on my Quickmill Anita espresso machine, wrenching on my bicycles and car, buying and selling things on eBay, anything Apple, watches, Subarus and Porsches.

I am also a super nerd about being the best husband I can be to my wife Jennifer, and the best father I can be to my two daughters, Elisabeth and Gabi. As much as I love being a physical therapist, my family is where I find the most joy and satisfaction in my life.

Professional

I graduated from Cedarville University with a B.S. in Athletic Training and after becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) worked as a high school trainer before starting PT school. In 2003 I completed the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. After working in a few other physical therapy settings for several years, I decided to open my own practice in 2008.

Throughout my career I have worked with every type of patient from children to professional athletes, from those with a sprained ankle to someone who has a disease that they will be burdened with forever. I am a manual therapist that is constantly learning to add tools to my toolbox of skills that is needed to help my patients. Being a master PT clinician is a never ending journey that requires constant education. Yearly I complete courses and obtain certifications to stay at the top of my game.

I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, an ATL original, if you will. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mercer University.

My passion for exercise started in college when I gained the dreaded freshman 15. I started exercising, and I never stopped! I developed a love for lifting weights, and it became my mission to help others get comfortable and confident in the gym. After a short stint in digital marketing, personal training, and teaching kickboxing at various gyms around Atlanta, I decided to pursue a career in physical therapy.

As a self-proclaimed workout addict, I know I can’t stand it when I get hurt and need to take it easy. I am not good at taking it easy. I find great satisfaction in helping my patients get back to their lives and get MOVING!

In my free time, I love to spend time outside, walking the beltline and going on hikes with my dog, Calliope. I will warn you now, if you ask to see a picture of Calliope, I will show you twenty. I am super excited to be part of the Mission Move team and help get you back to the activities you love!
